Anyone want to come to our next party?

  1. Lara

Ha, these are FANTASTIC! Nice work! Also, everyone looks great, but your one daughter – Kalina? – could be in the actual movie with that stare. She’s got a Jennifer Lawrence look to her.

  2. Vivian

I WOULD LOVE TO WATCH!!! hope you will providing all us with lots of pictures. how about making a movie for us?
    have fun!

  3. Jo

Still havent read the books. My husband cleared me to read them, but the premise… I just dont know yet. We cant come though, I would love to come to the party just to hang out you know, but we live in Ak. Its only a 3 hr flight I believe.

I’m not a fan of the books…but my kids are. It’s opened the doors to many great conversations. And I’m always up for a good party :)

If we are welcome I know Samantha would love it!! Maybe I can leave little ones at home with daddy and get a girls night out.

  5. Amy

I so wish we could come! I took my 13 year old daughter and friends to the movie as part of her birthday celebration, and they have all read all of the books. We also have had GREAT conversations. No way I can make it to your party from Hawaii but I am looking forward to seeing what you do and if we can possibly replicate it.

  6. Jessica

Omgosh! My kids would love that! Can you imagine all the grown ups with powdered skin and colorful wigs and insane makeup while speaking in a weird accent “May the odds be EVER in your favor!” What an amazing idea. I liked the books, my husband couldn’t get into the ‘petty’ mind of the 15 year old girl lol. The movie was just ok but I did enjoy the books.

My kiddos were so excited and deep into planning for our Hunger Games party a few weeks ago. Then we got THE call from our adoption agency and flew out the door to pick up our new baby! We spent 2 weeks there, and missed the movie opening, and all our party plans went flat. Now we’re planning to have it when the video comes out so we can have a viewing as part of the party!

LOL…I missed a couple things too as we got “THE CALL” also 6 weeks ago and were in MO for 9 days…Congrats!!! Mine was along the lines of MOM to MOM sales and 40 DFL vigils..

What a fun idea!!! I got hooked on the trilogy when my daughter had to read Hunger Games in school. My kids go to public school. Whenever they are required to read something that I think might compromise our morals or beliefs, I always pre-read or read it too. What a great book. I think I was more excited about the movie than they were! It ended up being an awesome witnessing tool for us too. I told several of their friends, that if they read the book, I would take them with us to the movie. Three kids came with us. On the way home we had a tremendous conversation about end times and the book of Revelation. And how it was similar to what end times could be like here on Earth. We also discussed how the movie emphasized refusing to give in to evil, helping those in need, showing compassion, and refusing to compromise one’s values. We prayed (with their three unsaved friends!!) that it caused all of them, including my own, to take a step back and consider if they’d want to risk living in that kind of world. Seeds planted thanks to Hunger Games! Who’d have thought!!! Can’t wait to hear about your party!

  9. Lou

Boohoo!! That is an unfair question to those of us on the other side of the world who ARE fans of the books despite being way too old to be! Brilliant. Might see if my God daughter is interested in such a party.

Now, Lou, you’re still welcome to come…just let me know when to expect you so I can meet you at the airport :)

  10. Jo

Wait, flying in is allowed? Let me check with my husband, the kids and I will come! I wish… my kids have been reading your blog for years, my son is 11 and has wanted to play with your kids since he was 7. They look like so much fun, to anyone I am sure but especially kids who have wanted to have a large family their whole life. We gravitate to large, christian families in homeschool groups. We get to enjoy their numbers, and we love that they have good morals. However, it always leaves my 2 asking why again can we not have any more… So they want to come play with yours!
