Last week Step 2 had this Easy Turn Coupe delivered straight to our door. It was a gift they sent to all of the children they invited for the Everybody Plays! shoot in San Diego. Apollo was utterly shocked…not expecting such an awesome gift on a regular summer evening… You can see in the photos a bit of disbelief on his face. Daddy quickly assembled it so Apollo could take it for a spin. My favorite shot of the evening…just look at that face!
Thank you, Step 2!
Summer is drawing to a close…we will begin our first day of homeschooling for the year tomorrow. But for now, here is
3 Things My Kids Learned about Me This Summer:
1. I know how to ride a bike.
Somehow this tidbit escaped my children. I’m not sure how, since surely they have heard the stories about how when we first got married we lived in Hawaii and had no car. So I biked to college every day. And we got groceries on our bikes. While I was pregnant. I suppose they never realized it because I haven’t owned a bike in years. And I haven’t owned a bike in years because we live in a valley. And our road is so hilly it is used by professional bikers to train for races.
2. I am really good at throwing and catching a football.
So much so that a certain 16-year-old son asked if I ever played football.
3. I’m even better at throwing and catching a baseball.
And it is the one sport I love (to play, not watch. I can’t stand watching any sports).
Our summer was full of camping and hiking and swimming and days at the lake.
Enoch and Judah completed a 50-mile hike with their Boy Scout troop. We went camping for a grand total of three times this summer as a family. Chuck just returned from a weekend of camping with our five oldest kids at home.
It has been a busy, full summer. No regrets, I just wish it would last a little longer.
And finally, the quote of the day from Apollo. He was on the floor crying because he couldn’t find his stormtrooper. Finally, he yelled:
“Help me get my storm trooper…or so help me!“
