Dear friends, don’t forget to pull out your camera today and take a few photos. They don’t need to be perfect. They don’t need to beautiful. It doesn’t matter if you own a DSLR, a cheap point and shoot or just the camera in your phone.
Take the time to capture a few memories today. Kids playing in the leaves? Doing homework? Unloading the dishwasher? Take a few pictures.
These photos might seem boring to you. Who wants to look at your dirty kitchen or that couch you are hoping to replace?
Someday these simple snapshots will take on a greater meaning, I promise. As I sat to post these photos this morning, I suddenly remembered almost identical images I took in 2009. Only then, Mordecai was only eight and was sword fighting with five-year old Hezekiah.

See? I love this photo even more now than I did when I took it four years ago. Don’t save your camera for special occasions, birthdays and large events. I take photos nearly every day, certainly every week and I am so happy I have these memories.
The seasons change and our children grow. I am so thankful for these images from the past.

Thanks for sharing. Most of my favorite moments captured in pictures are the “random” ones. All of those you shared are priceless!
Thanks for your beautiful pics…always. I have also always taken pictures and treasure them. I raised a medically needy son and have similar stories to yours and Apollo. (not anywhere near the same issues as Apollo however.) Time is precious. Having just signed my now 30 year old son onto hospice makes all those pictures and memories even more precious. Keep snapping away….and sharing.
Thank you for sharing this. I am so thankful I have taken pics in the good and the hard times. I treasure the pictures of Apollo in the hospital…and I want to someday share the whole story with him.
I am super impressed at your organization of and ability to whip out an old photo when think about a certain one. How do you keep your pics organized? Any tips on photo storage, albums, etc.?
A very good reminder! The time goes so fast and it’s the day to day bits and pieces that don’t get documented enough!
