That’s an Understatement!

To say that I’m behind on laundry would be an understatement.

To say my house is a mess would be an understatement.

And of course, life goes on.

This week alone we’ve: gone to the dentist, naturopath, Seattle Children’s, Boy Scouts. We’ve baby sat and learned to milk cows. Done a newborn shoot and even a little school.

Today, Apollo ate like crazy. Two eggs for breakfast, a granola bar. More eggs for lunch. A graham cracker. Berries and grape tomatoes. Peanut butter toast. And he napped for an hour and a half.

And then he laughed….which made me realize I haven’t heard him laugh in months. Amazing what a full tummy and a little sleep will do for you!

All of my little kids are responding to stress of our house right now and my many trips away. Tucker (6) now cries every time I leave and asks if I’m going to be gone over night…

Things are rough right now….hence the silence on my blog. As always, my family and children come first, so bear with me.

Some day I shall have a healthy boy. A full night’s sleep. And maybe even something clever to say or a project to show.

But for now, we’re just surviving.

Sometimes surviving is all we can do! Your loyal followers will wait for things to improve… rest assured we are all thinking of you and praying for you! How awesome to hear that Apollo is eating well (at least for now) and I pray that he continues to eat and sleep and heal! Hugs and prayers to you and all your family as you work through the issues surrounding Apollo’s surgery… it affects EVERYONE in the family… not just him!!

Sending prayers to you and all your children. So glad to hear that Apollo had a good eating day.

It occurred to me to ask if he was taking Tylenol 3 (Tylenol with codeine)? Codeine will suppress appetite and also constipates–something other moms with post surgical babes told me when I couldn’t get my LO to eat.

Nope. He came home with Oxycodone but only took that for about three days (and only at night).

Do you have any friends who could help catch up on the laundry? If I get really far behind, like if everyone has had one of the stomach bugs that go around the schools and church, I will take everything to the laundry mat. 2 1/2 hours, 6 large washer, $40 and everything is clean and dry.

I have started taking the clean laundry to my office, where I can sort and fold laundry between phone calls. I work at home 4 days a week. With a high speed internet and a work laptop with a VPN connection, I can work anywhere.

Dorothy, funny you ask. I had a friend volunteer to do our laundry and she’s on her way right now…I don’t know if she quite knows what she’s in for 🙂 Thank God for good friends!

If I were there, I would come do your laundry and clean your house. I hope that the kids feel caught up on mama time soon, its so hard on the ones at home when one is sick and gone a lot. Poor guys… I hope that you all feel less stressed soon. Survival mode is okay for a little while.

Well, Tilly and I cleaned the entryway, ran the dishwasher and started the laundry. I forgot to mention today is the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby…and Chuck and the boys are making their cars RIGHT NOW. Yeah, we’re a bit behind…

Do take care of yourself, Renee. We don’t want you falling in a heap (and I know you sound like you are nearly there!). I know the older girls are a great help so keep them busy with those household chores. It’s lovely that a friend is helping out with the laundry for you – a real blessing.
Great news that Apollo got some good food into him – that is great! Wishing you some peace and rest,

    Joolz

I’m so pleased that Apollo ate well, and then to hear that he laughed! Long may the eating continue, and hopefully his laughter will be ringing out all over the house like it should be. 🙂
