Friday my friend Jen messaged me asking if I’d like to meet her at Birch Bay after she got off work. Here’s the thing, my friends. I’m a morning person and a bit of a homebody. I kind of hate to leave my house late at night. Late at night in this case meaning after dinner.
Not only that, but Birch Bay is about five minutes from her house and thirty-five minutes from mine. But alas, adventure and the call of the ocean won me over. I fed my crew early (pot stickers, rice, and beef broccoli) and we headed out for adventure.
When did my little boys become young men?
It will probably come as no surprise to you that my boys entertained themselves by having an all-out seaweed war. Because, well, that’s what brothers like to do when given the freedom of the beach and the entire bay.
It’s not very often that I capture a genuine smile from Mordecai. But look at this! Pure bliss. Mordecai has always been a fearless sensory-seeker. He loves the water just as much as I do.
Apollo loves swimming shirtless now that his g-tube is out. We always had him wear a swim shirt to reduce the possibility that the tube got caught on something and pulled out.
Fearless Tucker is always looking for his next adventure.
Jen’s daughter had tragedy strike before our evening was over…she hurt her foot while frolicking in the Puget Sound. Thankfully, her daddy was there to give comfort and medical care.
Eventually, the kids tired.
Mordecai found a quiet spot to read his book.
And then I glanced over and saw this.
Apollo too found a quiet spot to read.
This was the perfect end to a lovely day.
Beautiful photos!
