Why Homemade Ice Cream?

I scream you scream, this the world’s best ICE CREAM. It truly is, my friends. Years ago a friend brought me a pint of Starbucks Mocha Java Chip Ice Cream and it was pure heaven. Shortly after this life-changing discovery, Starbucks discontinued it. I was heartbroken. I tried a bunch of other brands of coffee ice cream, but none even came close to the rich, creamy flavor of Mocha Java Chip, so I began experimenting on my own. I can now proudly say I have conquered the battle and come up with a mocha ice cream recipe that surpasses Mocha Java Chip…so take that, Starbucks!

6 Simple Ingredients for Perfect Mocha Ice Cream
The best part about making homemade ice cream is it only takes a few simple ingredients. In this case, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, instant coffee, and grated chocolate.
I cannot recommend this Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker highly enough. I bought this in 2014 and it is still going strong. This ice cream maker makes two quarts of ice cream (with no need for ice or salt!) and I eventually bought a second bowl so we can make two batches, one after the other.
Hacks for Making Perfect Homemade Ice Cream
Making homemade ice cream is easy, but there are a few hacks that will make your life easier and your ice cream better.
- Mix the milk, cream, and sugar before you pour it into the ice cream maker. The sugar doesn’t need to completely dissolve (there is usually a thin layer of sugar at the bottom of my bowl) but if you add the ingredients without pre-mixing your ice cream won’t have a smooth texture.
- Buy an ice cream maker that doesn’t require ice or salt.
- Buy a second bowl (you thank me for this).
