Opus Sets a Record

20100410_2449 blog
Tucker and Avi (4). I was going to grab my camera and photos yesterday…but then I remembered the battery wasn’t in it (I charged it for my impending birth) and I decided it would take far too much energy to get my camera, put the batteries in, think about settings, then take photos. So here’s a photo from several months ago…

I am now 4 days past my due date. A new record for me. Thanks, Opus! I always wanted to see just how long I could stay pregnant. Avi turns 5 on Sunday, but it looks like we’re going to have to postpone the celebration a bit. Never did I imagine these two birthdays would be so close together. Now, no matter when this baby is born, their birthdays will only be a few days apart…

I am more tired right now then I have been in a very, very long time. Hence the periods of silence on my blog. In order to blog, I have to sit upright in a very uncomfortable chair- well, in my non-gestating state the chair is just fine, right now- not so much. I don’t even have the energy to make my morning coffee. How pathetic is that???

I promise, once the baby is born, and I we are resting, I will have a husband or daughter post the name and gender on here…so don’t take my long periods of silence too seriously.

Like you, I am waiting, waiting, waiting…

I went 3 weeks (according to the due date I knew to be right) over with Rebekah, that is my record, but all my girls were late with the exception of Elizabeth (I took castor oil 2 weeks before my due date as I was tired of bed rest due to high blood pressure).
All total I have been over due for about 7 weeks…not taking off for the two that came early…
Hang in there…this baby will come and you will feel better soon!

    This is so exciting!
We just came back from Texas two weeks ago from adopting our little boy! I thought I’d let you know since we emailed back and forth some when we were in the middle of the adoption.
Looking forward to reading news of your birth soon!

You poor thing! My son was 2 weeks late. I swore I’d never give birth, and when the contractions started it took a bit for me to believe it was FINALLY happening!! Hang in there!

  4. Davene

Thanks for the update! I hope you can find some way to get comfortable and get some rest. I know the birth will be soon – but soon is such a relative term, and I know it gets frustrating.
Very cute photo, by the way!

I saw the title to your blog post and was sure the “new record” was going to be shortest labor! Ha! All I can say is WOW. You are so totally pregnant. I promise that if you’re still pregnant on Sunday at church, I’ll pretend not to notice. 🙂

Oh, Renee, you are in my prayers. These last days can be oh, so frustrating. I’ve been tempted to waddle up to the pharmacist’s counter and ask where the pregnancy tests were, as I began to think it some grand cosmic joke.
My last (fourth, of four girls) was one week over. My folks had come to town to twiddle their thumbs with me (not really, since I had 3 kids and they have custody of my stepbrother’s 2 kids.. it was quite busy). Thankfully, I did eventually have that baby, and she ‘checked out’ at exactly 40 weeks according to the midwife. And nearly my smallest at 8 lbs even.
I’ll pray that you find joy and rest in these days. The verse that always comes to me by then is “..I am convinced that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us.”

My baby was 10 days late, but my midwife told me ALL FOUR OF HER babies were 4 weeks late!!!!!!! Can you believe they let it go that long?! that’s what you get when you go all natural, if there aren’t any problems, they will make you wait as long as possible!

Winni knows the trick to an easy castor oil labor. I know you are not exactly comforted by everyone telling you how much laaaater they have been than you, but I am always about 2 weeks over, 😉 I FEEL you’re pain. I still wouldn’t take caster oil until I was a week late, but Winni’s method was tested, true and wonderful. My quickest easiest labor. 😉 You know my number. Praying for you dear sister every loooong day that passes. I always slept better when I was pregnant so I consoled myself with that fact, one more night of blissful sleep, though it doesn’t sound like you have that. Take care…~Jenn

Ah but the chance of having two children sharing a birthday is literally “one in a million”. Maybe Opus is going to make a statement. Hang in there!
ps I have been lurking around here for a couple years now and thoroughly enjoy you and your family!

Actually, my midwife said if I dont deliver by 41 weeks, well have to discuss induction options. I assume she means natural ones. I didnt ask for specifics, because after 8 babies (none of whom have been more than 3 days late) it didnt seem likely I would make it to 41 weeks…

  11. Alias Mother

You have my sympathy. Like the others above, I have gone as late as two weeks and I know that at the end every day feels like a month. Let’s hope all this waiting pays off with a quick, easy labor.
The internet wants the best for you!
