Apollo went swimming for the first time yesterday and loved it! I honestly didn’t think he’d go for it, but the second I was in the water with him he stretched out his chubby little arms and legs, letting them kick gently in the water. I think he was having flashbacks of the roomy pool he had while in-utero.
So content! He wasn’t sleeping, he just had his eyes closed because the sun was so bright.
Public Service Announcement: I just want to make it clear that Tucker was not holding Apollo in this photo. I had both hands firmly on him and simply propped him next to Tucker for the picture.
Tucker, 4
Mordecai (7) jumped off the diving board for the first time ever!
Hope your summer is as refreshing and joy-filled as ours!
Great swim diaper, Renee!!
Enoch cut his hair!He looks so much older now. He’s a very handsome guy.
I just found your blog. You are an amazing photographer.
The fact that you had to put that PSA on there kind of bums me out. What a fun day at the pool!
Wow…Apollo is definitely a child of you & Chuck! 🙂
I’m so happy to have been able to keep up on Apollo’s birth and first weeks by reading your blog…thanks again for being so good at it.
Finally….I’ve got 2 bags of chicken cordon bleu in my freezer with your family’s name on them…I’ll get them to you sooner or later! I promise!

People are strange…I just didnt want to give anyone the impression that I let my four year old hold the baby in a swimming pool 🙂

Funny thing is (for a cross-cultural misunderstanding), when I read “PSA” I thought “oh, it’s about the baby not having a rashy on.” I didn’t even notice that a 4 yr old was holding him in a pool! (I don’t have kids…obviously.) But it is pretty rare these days in Australia to see a kid without a rashy. Esp babies. Full suits actually. (I see, however, that all your other kids have them.) (Mind you, we have an ozone hole kind of close to us!)
Another cross-cultural misunderstanding: what exactly is a rashy?
Well I’m not Australian, but I think I can answer that one for you (correct me if I’m wrong Lou).
I’m going to guess that “rashy” is short for “rash guard” which is also known as a swim shirt 🙂
Im assuming its something like that… I just cant imagine one small enough for a newborn!

I actually saw an itty bitty one at Target that was so darn adorable I wanted to buy it even though I don’t have a baby! But that’s the only time I’ve ever seen one…
Yeah, sorry. I teach cross cultural communication. You think I’d realize I was using that word! It’s a swim shirt. We have one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, so no parent EVER has a kid outdoors with them. and we even get them in iddy biddy sizes! And usually for little ones they are full jumpsuits till they are about 3 or so.
