Hostess Twinkies and the Baker’s Dozen

My children were a bit confounded over the uproar about living in a world with no more Twinkies…mainly because of the majority of my children had never eaten one before. Other than wanting them to make these Minions, they weren’t missed by our family. That doesn’t mean, however, that when we spotted them back in the store we were unaffected. Quite the contrary. We decided to get in touch with pop culture and give them a try. For the record, I have eaten Twinkies and Tilly thinks she might have had one once.

My children are good sports, and were happy to do a little Twinkie Photoshoot with me. twinkies, hostess, large family, large family blog twinkies, hostess, large family, large family blog twinkies, hostess, large family, large family blog twinkies, hostess, large family, large family blog twinkies, hostess, large family, large family blog twinkies, hostess, large family, large family blog twinkies, hostess, large family, large family blogHow about you? I have been to the US three times (Houston, New York and Las Vegas) and asked in shops about Twinkies each time, but no one knew what I was talking about. I was beginning to imagine they were something made up for films!

Seriously? Twinkies have been around since I was a kid…I don’t know why someone wouldn’t know what they are. Where do you live?

I’m from the UK. I don’t think it was an accent thing, I remember it being repeated back to me on one of the times. I must have just been unlucky with who I asked!

i love the looks on their faces, so funny!!
i don’t eat either of them, so i could care less when they left or came back on the shelves.
chocolate candy bars…that is another story :0)

I’ve had them once or twice, but am not a fan. If I’m going to spend the calories it needs to be decadent and delicious 🙂 I would however, buy them to make the minons.

My kids have never had a Twinkie. I might have to let them try one since we are studying the 1900’s this year. One of ours can’t take the chemicals however. He is way to allergic to take the chance.

I’ve never gotten the appeal of Twinkies. They just taste like blandness and bad sugar. Ho-Hos, on the other hand….those I can get behind.

My friend bought a box and gave one to each of my boys. They both said it was good. They had never had one before and had actually never heard of them until recently. I have looked a few times when I am shopping but they seem to be going faster than the other hostess items. I like twinkies but the chocolate cupcake and suzy q were may favorites. I am noticing a chocolate trend…ho-hos, ding dongs, suzy q.

I don’t know if my kids have ever had Twinkies. They occasionally get little Debbie snacks, oatmeal pies and swiss rolls, as they sell those at the bakery outlet near here. I don’t eat most prepared snack foods. I would rather have a good chocolate cake, preferably home made so I don’t have to worry about peanut contamination and severe allergic reactions.

That second to last photo of Avi had me literally laughing out loud.
I’ve never tried a Twinkie and don’t believe they are available anywhere in Europe, but I’d be curious enough to try one as well.
