I know you all have been waiting for posts about Adalia and Percival and our adventures here in New Zealand. The truth is, I haven’t left the house since Adalia came home from the hospital. I have been doing exactly what I came here to do: helping with Percy, doing the laundry and dishes, and taking care of Adalia.
It has been fabulous, if not very photographable.
Adalia hired a birth photographer so while I was there, I didn’t take a single picture until Percy was born and resting with his mom. But here I am, with a spare moment to share a few things to know about Percival.
- He is simply adorable with a very prominent widow’s peak just like his mama was born with.
Ben also has a widow’s peak, but I haven’t seen pictures of him as a baby so I can’t comment on that.2. He’s big.
At 8 pounds 3 ounces, Percy weighed more than everyone of my babies, except for Apollo.
That’s right by some weird bit of irony, Apollo was my biggest baby!
3. Percival is the first grandchild on both sides of the family.
Ben was the first sibling to get married in his family and Adalia was the first sibling to get married on our side.
4. Percy has eighteen aunts and uncles by blood and two more by marriage! While that will be hard for him to keep track of just think of all the spoiling that means.
His Uncle Jason has already bought him a massive supply of All Blacks clothing to make sure he grows up on the right team, so to speak.
5. Ben suggested Percy’s name and Adalia loved it.
Ben loves old-fashioned English sounding names and Percival Darcy certainly fits the bill there. Ben and Adalia call him Percy and Kalina and I like to call him Mr. Darcy.
Percival is very well-loved. His mama and daddy are both completely smitten with him.
