Western Washington University is well-known around here for its beautiful cherry blossoms in the spring. I have never headed up there for photos but I happened to see someone comment about them the very day I was planning to take photos of Kalina in her Esme Squalor costume. It was serendipitous.
So I loaded up Kalina and Jubilee for a little Mom/Daugther/Canon time.
As you can see, Kalina is a natural when it comes to modeling. These photos are not my usual style, but it sure was fun to go out and stretch my photography wings a bit. It’s no secret that winters are hard on me, so even a hint of sun, fresh air, and cherry blossoms are good for my mental state.
Even if it was chilly.
This was a Sunday afternoon and it was drizzling out so the outdoor areas of the campus were nearly deserted. There is no way we could do this during the week.
Well, I have a billion more photos from this shoot, but I think I’ll stop here for now.
Afterward, we decided to try out the new coffee shop I keep hearing about…but they were closed. So sad. But we are nothing if not resourceful so we headed over to Woods Coffee. We are also Hearty Pacific Northwesterners so a little rain doesn’t both us anyway.

Thank you, Mazda for allowing us to use the Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD. We loved it and it’s perfect for parallel parking downtown.
